We are thrilled to announce that our next installment of Connect and Collaborate will be held virtually on February 22 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. MT.
The event is open to all members of the Boettcher community (Current Scholars, Scholar Alumni, Investigators, Fellows, etc.) and it is intended to allow everyone to come together to learn about a quarterly topic, connect with each other, and collaborate on projects and issues together.
On February 22, our C+C topic is getting involved in your community via local government, government commissions, and school boards.
We have wonderfully insightful panelists scheduled for the evening:
The general format will be brief presentations from each of the panelists, followed by casual, nonpartisan Q&A and discussion about the best ways to get involved in your local communities!

Nikky Patel, Director of state boards and commissions for the State of Colorado, who will provide an overview of the process to apply for government boards and commissions and share the upcoming openings for later in 2023. (2.) Kathie Novak, former Mayor and Councilwoman from Northglenn, CO and current Institute Director for the Colorado Municipal Clerks Institute and Daniels College of Business professor. Kathie has almost 19 years of elected public service and will be on hand to talk about interacting with your local councils/neighborhood organizations, and municipalities.(3.) And JulieMarie Shepherd Macklin, a 2004 Boettcher Scholar and former Aurora Public Schools Board of Education member. JulieMarie has also served on several highly impactful local and statewide government commissions. She will be on hand to talk about getting engaged in your community via schools/districts and will also be available to discuss her other public board experience.
