Join us for Boettcher's quarterly Catalyst Conversations series — a virtual opportunity to showcase the incredible talents of our Alums, connect from afar, and explore unique, thought-provoking content.
This quarter, 1978 Scholar Dr. Susan Mayne will discuss how scientific training can lead to unexpected career opportunities, sharing her journey from academia to science-based public health leadership in the federal government.
A trailblazer in nutrition science and public health, Susan’s leadership helped eliminate industrial trans fats from the U.S. food supply — an achievement linked to thousands of lives saved each year.
After serving three decades as a professor of epidemiology at the Yale School of Public Health, Susan became the director of the Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. In her role, which spanned three presidential administrations, she shaped national policy on added sugars, sodium reduction, and food safety.
